It's Time To Be More Than Your Average Dad

My Mad Little Family Super Dad

What do you as a dad imagine to be the average dad, the stereotype as it were? It’s usually one that loves an afternoon nap, can be scary at the best of times, and was born to humiliate all offspring. It’s the stereotype we’re stuck with, and it’s the stereotype that most dads love to live up to. But we’re not living in the 21st century, and in a time where dads can dare to be different. It might be because the age at which we’re becoming dads is getting younger, or due to the fact that social media is creating this ‘cool dad image’ as it were. Whatever you want to be, you don’t want to spend your life being average. You want to be the dad that all the other dads are well-jel of, just like school girl gossip! We’re going to help you create that, so read on to become more than just your average dad.

Style Icon

If there’s one thing that lets most dads down, it’s their sense of fashion. Fashion and dads just don’t mix, but all it takes is a few simple changes to achieve the desirable dad look. If you take a look at brands such as John Henric, you’ll find the perfect mix of comfort and sophistication, which is what a lot of dads miss. They either go too comfy, or too sophisticated. If you want a simple look to rock, you need to go black skinny jeans. Black skinny jeans go with anything, a simple T-shirt to finish this would do. But, if you want to go slightly more classy, a jumper from brands like we have listed will take you up a level. But make sure you’re wearing for the occasion. Don’t turn up to a meeting in black skinny jeans and a T-shirt that says world's best dad.

Getting Involved

If there’s one thing us dads just can’t seem to master, it’s the sensitive parent side of things. We’re not built for that, we’re built for beers and rugby… we’re built to be a macho man. So, when your kids start to get older, and they start to experience big girl or boy problems like breakups, you’re going to have to find a way to be there for them. Even if it’s just a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to rant to (you’ll be used to that), at least you’re getting involved. There’s nothing worse than the average dad who takes a back seat and lets mom deal with all of the emotions. The bond you’ll be able to grow with your child through just being there for them, is going to be so much stronger than a dad who is just there for the fun side of things. However, a cool dad is definitely one that gets involved with everything. From finger painting to cake making, the more you do, the more they grow with you. Set up weekend activities that mean you’ll spend quality time having some fun. You don’t need to be out and about, you could just relive your youth and build a fort in the living room… like all real men do!

We’ve picked out just two areas where dads seem to keep it average, it’s up to you to discover the rest!
